Chawanakee Unified is a District of Choice.  Resolution #10-2017/2018 will accept a maximum number of student transfers from outside the school district.  In doing so, CUSD has designated the following school sites as District of Choice:
                                 •Spring Valley K-8 assignments (70)
                                 •Hillside Elementary K-8 assignments (90)
                                 •North Fork Elementary K-8 assignments (20)
                                 •Minarets High School 9-12 assignments (125)

Per Ed. Code 48306, Chawanakee Unified School District will publicly inform our community of the number of available transfers we will accept.  If we have a great number of requests than available we will use a lottery to determine priority.  Priority will be given first to siblings, current enrolled students for continuity, students eligible for free or reduced-price meals, and the third priority to children of military personnel.  Then if necessary a random drawing will be conducted at a regular scheduled Board Meeting prior to February 15.

By February 15, Chawanakee Unified must report to the district of residence the number of students accepted, by school and grade level, with final notice of these numbers and the students' names by May 2.  If CUSD stops accepting transfers, high school transfer students may remain enrolled and attend the same school until graduation.
