Welcome to Nutrition Services
The Chawanakee Unified School District (CUSD) proudly announces participation in the California (CA) Universal Meals, Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Under CA Universal Meals and CEP, all CUSD students will be offered breakfast and lunch at no charge. Students are able to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch.The District is committed to make sure students have the opportunity to eat nutritious meals throughout the school year.
Meal Service will commence on your student's first day of school and will run through the entire school year. Meal Service is not offered on Holidays and breaks when school is not in session.
All our menus follow strict requirements for calories, saturated fat, sugar, sodium and whole grains outlined in the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act (HHFKA). There is no discrimination and use a computerized system where all computer meal transactions are the same. Please take advantage of the variety of menu items offered through Nutrition Services including fresh salads, parfaits, sandwiches and vegetarian options daily.
SUN BUCKS
What are SUN Bucks?

SUN Bucks (also known as Summer EBT) is a permanent program that helps families with school-aged children buy food during summer months.
Using Your SUN Bucks
Each eligible child gets $120 on a SUN Bucks card. Families can use SUN Bucks to buy food at most grocery stores, farmer's markets, and other authorized retailers, including online at stores like Amazon and Walmart.
SUN Bucks cannot be used for hot foods, pet foods, cleaning or household supplies, personal hygiene items, or medicine.
You can use SUN Bucks and still get other food assistance programs such as summer meals, CalFresh, and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
Healthy School Meals for All
Eight states have taken permanent actions to make sure hunger is not a barrier to children’s success. California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Vermont passed state laws allowing their schools to serve healthy school breakfasts and lunches to all their students at no cost.
